Roger credits Parlaiment-Funkadelic guitarist Glen Goings-- his childhood next-door neighbor in Plainfield, New Jersey-- with sparking his interest in music.

After a youth misspent as a guitar bum surfing the Jersey shore, Roger set out for Colorado at the zenith of hippiedom. He earned a music degree from Colorado State and played with various jazz, blues, and funk bands in most of the clubs along the Rocky Mountain front range. That experience shows in the Dukes' tight arrangements and emphasis on dynamics.

Arriving in Tampa in 1983, Roger quickly found the Dukes. His guitar style is high-energy, and the interplay between guitar and sax is a Dukes trademark. Roger still keeps a surfboard handy.
